Poggio ai Laghi has chosen to rely on artists to design the labels of its wines. The wine labels dedicated to Donna Ava and her seven handmaidens are designed by a talented local artist, Maria Chiara Viviani.

Along the Francigena near Monteriggioni on February 4, 1001 Donna Ava, widow of Ildebrando Signore di Staggia, founded with her children the Benedictine monastery of Abbadia Isola, richly endowing it with goods.
